02 August 2010, in view of the recent protest actions at MUT, what are your views, is it affecting your Academic Program, Are you for It or Not, Share your views with us, Lets engage in dialogue...Share your thoughts.
I think it is imperative that the interest of students be put first not withstanding the fact the students should pay their fees. Since the students has engaged on the protests the day to day programmes has been severely disrupted and that has a negetive impact on the students mostly semester students. The management should intervene unless this will be no different to what happened in April 2008 when the institution has to be closed for weeks.
that issue needs parent and student coz some of student they got fees from their parent bt then bona they use it recklessly, although kukhona abangenayo seriosly
I seriously think the srike was a very primative action where alot of educational time was wasted.Especailly for the senior students, what has come of it?really now what?People must just do what they came here to do and forget about politics.
@ Anonymous Aug 09,2010 10:37:00PM having been the student of then Mangosuthu Tecknikon, knowing what is happening there I find it amusing that you called the students actions primitive. let me brief you, duties of SRC is to ensure that the students are taken care of in term of Academic, housing and leisure and recreation. It there constitutional right to embark on the action.I remain....
I have an idea and its a simple one, students views will not be taken into consideration for as long as there are opposing political parties within the institution. They are able to convince masses into joining them in their political madness and unsettled political scores. My idea is that politicians & political parties be banned from tertiary institutions and the new student movement that caters for all students, a student movement that won't the hatred that continually burn between SASCO & SADESMO. Till the day students open their eyes & rebel against this stupid game that is played by these parties, students will unite and management won't get any chance of using us against us.
i enjoyd and appritiated the vibe both sasco and sadeso gave us: I get pissd of when ppl disagree with the stike bcos I ' one striked on bhalf of those who were on da cricis; while ,y debts were fully paid. bt wha can we say ppl dont appretiate::: Till we than chaw
i can't imagine what gonna happen to underprivileged students ayikho le mali ayi ngoba singafuni nayo ayikho and we have nothing to do about it except ukulinda until deregestered mara why laba ntwana abanayo bangavele bayikhokhe? ukuze nemanagement izothi ukuthamba kancane nathi siqhubeke nezifundo zethu we need lama.diploma
i like some of your comments, and others are just ridiculos. you came to m.u.t to learn, not for all the political crap that goes on. obviously not all of us can afford education, but plans can be made. i think we cann do sumthng betta dan strikn. coz wit strikn, kulimala thina, nt managmnt. we'r all educatd here so im sure we can cum up wit a betta solution!!!!
MUT is headed for disaster. I like this University but i wouldnt send my child here. This is the most ridiculous, un-organised, stressful university in the country. I dont see improvement in this University. I CANT WAIT TOO GO HOME, I CANT WAIT TO FINISH MY DIPLOMA AND GO AS FAR AS POSSIBLE FROM MUT.
ok let us be fair and tell the truth the strikes at MUT were a complete waste of time, reason being go to any rez a number of students have laptops, computers and every fancy gadget out on the market now what does that indicate? we got cash but when we have to prioratize and pay for what is important to us we start making excuses, i don't wana take any sides but i wana be factual and be as truthful as possible. second point the g20 rule shud stay view g20 as a pat in the back that keeps reminding u that u came for a diploma at MUT not anything else not politics coz u don't have a clue what it is, so leave it n do wat u came here for! Ufike kanjani at MUT uma uzofike ufail remeber where u cum from n stop Bitc*** around.
if we want to win the race that we have started ,we need to put into consideration on what we need the most ,than we what we want therefore this will show the importance of why we engaged our self in racing , students support first.
hi i will b doing a diploma 4 chemical engineering next year, i was wondering how it will take 4 me 2 upgrade it to a degree.. because i don't want 2 limit my options and yea ill b studying there at MUT *CANT WAIT*
I was a student in year 2001,there was a major strike which also involved Technikon employee, the Technikon ended up closing for weeks. When we resume our lectures it was good as in there was no no strike what so ever. We work very hard but only those who were willing to secriefs simply because there were axtra lectures that were added in the time table. 2009 & 2010 I returned to study towards a B-tech, there was a trike again but that did not have a nagative impact on my studies. For both this trials I did know who was in SRC, holding what position but the only I knew was my purpose as a stundent. Fortunetely enough one last year member of SRC was in my class, he was bright as in he got cummulade on his Diploma & he was still doing exeptional work in class, I can't comment about SRC work. MUT student should take full responsibility of their studies becouse at the end of the it not about their parant, lecturers, SRC members etc but the future is on their hands. Some of issues are associated with unpropriated use of monies. Some parents afford to pay fully the tuition fee & resident fee but only to find that the student is hoping to be granted TFSA at the end of the day he or she does not qualify due to poor performance. That where the SRC comes in & fight for reckles student when they can not be issued results. SRC will negotiate till they win & the student will than receive result & register for the next level, that how the University experience so much outstanding amount.I wish parent can take a closer step to the studies of their children, be sure of what they are paying for. If possible pay through the bank deposit or internet banking in order to eliminate such froud. I can write a story book about students of todays not only MUT but all Varsities and Colleges.
listen combrades let us not think only about our selves here, the reson why we as sasco are on a strike is because we want MUT to be a university of no froud,no racism, etc the management of MUT is abusing our disadvantaged brothers and sisters and the SRC is not even saying anything, instead they are bribed and tell the students that they spoke with the management and service will be delivered, while we know exacly that what they are saying is bull shit.so if we as the gerilers are not standing up against this, who will??????
